I FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES S 4 Mr. and Mrs.. Walter Diebold were arrivals from Louisville. Their Walter D., a son of Dress Parade and Orlova, named for the Louisiana Derby, was under colors for the second time in the West End Purse Monday. L. A. Seregnini turned the three-year-old filly Verity Ballot over to F. A. Tansor, veteran trainer. F. A. Carreaud, well known owner of El Paso, is due here Wednesday from Florida and with Mrs. Carreaud will make an extended stay. A division of the Carreaud Stable is here in charge of George Brooks, who reported, that other of the Carreaud horses now in Florida would not be shipped here as had been considered. Stakes to be run during the coming annual meeting of the Washington Park Jockey Club at Washington Park during the five weeks season from May 23 to June 25 continue to receive subscriptions from among the stables, here, according to William H. Shelley, who has been very active in behalf of the" numerous valuable features for some time. The Maryland Racing Commission has approved the book of conditions for the Bowie Spring meeting, and Joseph McLennan hopes to distribute copies among the horsemen here by Wednesday. Nomination blanks for the Havre de Grace stakes were received today by Joseph McLennan and are being distributed from his office at the Fair Grounds. Jockey V. Roussell has been suspended pending an investigation into his riding of Vanquish in the eighth race Saturday. The Southland Stables Old Jefferson, a three-year-old, was destroyed Sunday. He fractured a bone in the right shoulder while galloping on the Fair Grounds track Saturday. Some insurance was carried. Charles Bachrach, owner of the Southland Stable, and Mrs. Bachrach, left today by motor for Florida, where they will visit for two weeks." Following a short suspension for disobedience at the post, jockey R. Finnerty resumed riding Monday. Finnerty, a local boy, with a big following here, equaled the best riding mark of the winter when he rode four winners here last Tuesday. While only nine were nominated for the ,000 added General Beauregard Claiming Stakes, to be run at nine furlongs Saturday, all are almost certain starters and a good race should result. Those named were E. R. Bradleys Bar Hunter, R. A. Fairbairns Glastonbury, Greentree Stables Comstock-ery, E. Haughtons Prose and Poetry, J- Mcphersons Prince Pest, J. Marschs Prince Atheling, Peconic Stables Knight Commander, Mrs. M. B. Prices Silverdale and R. C. Thatchers Chokoloskee. Jockey R: Tilden may go to Tanforan to ride during the spring meeting at that course. Orville Whalen, 16, and a native of Coral Ridge, Ky., made his first appearance in silks when he had the mount on C. W. Bid-wills Hidden Thoughts in the fourth race. He is a very likely prospect and under contract to Ed Snyder. The stewards, suspended Tommy May for five days for not keeping Honeyman straight in the stretch in. the first race Charity Day.
