ADOBE POST GALLOPS MILE First Kentucky Derby Candidate to Work Distance This Spring at Louisville Many Arrivals. LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 23 Adobe Post, owned by Knebelkamp and Morris, is the first candidate in this section to be sent one mile in his preparation for the Derby". Trainer John Johns had him galloped the distance in the fractional time of :27, :54, 1:08, 1:22, 1:35 and 1:51 over a good track at Douglas Park. Only one other Derby candidate at the local tracks was worked. Side Step, with Phil Grosser up, showed owner W. D. Covington a good half mile in :25, :52 at the same track. Other candidates for the race were given long, slow canters and gallops. The arrival of the Shandon Stud Stable from Lexington last night with the Derby colt Burning Blaze, a son of Big Blaze Mexican Tea, was the attraction at the Downs. Trainer J. J. Greely brought in eight older horses besides his Derby charge and four two-year-olds. They all shipped Well and will undergo training for the spring racing. John Marsch, Chicago turfman, came over from Lexington and was at the Downs, where trainer Phil Reuter unloaded ten head of the Marsch horses that he raced in New Orleans this winter. C. W. Hay, general manager of Washington Park, paid the Douglas Park course a visit to watch his horses, Scotland Glory and Scotland Beauty, in their usual work under the tutelage of trainer Jones. Both! the Downs and Douglas Park presented a busy scene with the stabling of numerous horses that arrived from the South. 4 .
