QUORUM, showing early speed, Saved ground while setting the early pace and continued gamely when overtaken. NOAJOYCE, close up and hard ridden from the start, finished gamely. EVERYTIME raced evenly. JACK HOWE was unable to enter contention. The others were outrun. The latter, a factor throughout, took a short lead in the last eighth, but tired near the end. TOP HATTIE, close to the leaders on the back stretch, went ;to the outside for the final drive. COCKRILL, hard urged throughout, tired in the stretch. SWEEP-NET .was unable to improve her position. STELLANOVA and the others were never factors. Overweight Top Hattie, 1 pound. COOTS, caught in a jam soon after the start, came through on the inside entering the back stretch, took command, but could not withstand the winner. JOHN MILL, weakly ridden, responded in the stretch and closed gamely. MONTANARO was crowded leaving the back stretch and did not recover. DONNY JOHNNY, guided very wide until midway of the back stretch, raced to the leaders, but tired fast in the closing quarter. THE BREAK and ROAN ANTELOPE had no excuses.
