SABATH ELIGIBLES WORK OUT Chicago Owners Kentucky Derby Eligibles, I Say and Manners, in Fast Training Gallops. LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 24. Trainer Jake Lowenstein worked both of Albert Sab-aths Derby candidates at the Downs this morning, where the track was in excellent shape. I Say, the filly, breezed in company with the older horse First Vote for a half mile in the fractional time of :38, for the first three furlongs, and the final distance in :53. Manners was sent along with four other horses and timed by his trainer a bit faster than the filly, the three furlongs being covered in :38 and the half in :53. Cathop, R. M. Eastmans Derby candidate, was looked after by Walter Taylor, brother of Tommy Taylor, the trainer for this stable, today and he was breezed with the older horses, Sunfire and Hamilton, for a half mile in :26, :54, being held well in hand by jockey Carl Meyer. Trainer J. J. Greely galloped Burning Blaze two miles at the head of a set composed of Roman Hill, Aqua Vitae and Iskum. The colt is exercised by ex-jockey Heigle, and looks to be in the best of physical condition. Other Derby candidates at the Downs, including Cold Check, Delivered and Barash-kova, were given easy works. At the Douglas Park track J. B. Respess Our Fancy was cantered as was the Long-ridge Stables Oscillation and Knebelkamp and Morris Adobe Post. Alex Gordon had his whole stable out, Sweeping Light and the other Derby eligible, Black Powder, showing useful works in preparation for their stake engagements. The arrival of another Derby candidate, Ward and Burtons Dyak, raises the sum total of eligibles for the Derby to sixteen at both local tracks at the present time. George Terhune, in the employ of W. G. Sparks, was thrown heavily this morning when the filly he was riding bolted into the outside fence at the quarter pole. The lad suffered cuts about the head and left arm but the filly seemed to have suffered no serious injury.
