SEEKS FOURTH DERBY VICTORY Earl Sande Anxious to Increase Hitf Own and Pass Isaac Murphys Brilliant Record. LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 24. It was learned here today that Earl Sande will be offered an opportunity to achieve his greatest ambition, that is to break the tie between himself and the late Isaac Murphy,-colored jockey, in the matter of having piloted three winners each in the Kentucky, Derby. W. F. Knebelkamp, owner of Delivered, is in the South and is expected to close a contract with Sande to ride this son of Lee O. Cotner Guaranteed, before twenty-four1 hours Iiave passed. Sande achieved his first victory in the Derby in 1923, when he had the mount on the Rancocas Stables Zev and two years later he again won on Flying Ebony in the colors of the late Gifford A. Cochran. This was after Sande had made a complete recovery from a fall that nearly put him out of commission for all time and he had much trouble getting a mount that year, in the race. He tried to get the mount on Captain Hal, but A. A. Kaiser had promised Jake Heupel the mount and he would not break his word. It was almost at the last moment that Omar Cochran gave Sande the mount on Flying Ebony and the outcome of the race proved it a wise move on his part.
