3" 400 READY FOR SHIPMENT Big Colony at New Orleans Held Until Weather in North Shows Improvement. NEW, ORLEANS, La., March 24. Reports of continued cold weather at various northern racing points is the reason given why more than 400 head of horses remain in quarters at the Fair Grounds and Jefferson Park. Owners show- no inclination to start the northward .trek for the next few days at least. April first is the date upon which stables must vacate quarters at the Fair Grounds. Several important shipments are scheduled for next week. These are the stables of J. Leiter, J. J. Robinson and the Southland Stable, owned by Charles Bacharach. H. D. Riddle will transfer nineteen head for Mr. Robinson to Jamaica on April 1. The Leiter horses, thirteen head, go direct to Churchill Downs, at which point N. K. Beal, trainer of the stable, will take over the ten head Chester OMalley has quartered at Douglas Park, which came direct from the farm. In this division are eight two-year-olds, the progeny of Dunlin and Royal Canopy, as well as Princess A. O., and Princess Ivre. Trainer Beal has had Prince Vine unsexed and completed arrangements for Princess Julep to visit the court of Morvich at the Haylands Nursery. The Southland Stable, in charge of trainer J. Daniels, is marking time before starting for Kentucky, during which season hope is held for several members of the two-year-old division of the stable. Tiedemann, Wild Laurel and Fortune have been unsexed during their lay-off at the Fair Grounds. G. H. Neal has purchased the contract held on the apprentice jockey L. Cantrell, at private sale, from R. Nicholas. J. L. Paul has completed arrangements to move his stable to Exposition Park, Aurora, on April 1. Marion McGonigle, reported in a bad way as a result of an operation for appendicitis, is now said to have made rapid strides towards recovery during the past twenty-four hours. Physicians attending him have strong hopes for his recovery. A carload of horses owned by J. Barnes, E. J. Woods, V. Cloud, J. J. McGovern, J. A. Craver, F. Perry, A. Tempest and B. W. Green were shipped from Jefferson Park to Grove City, Ohio, today.
