] j . , ] ] j , ] , . j , j ; ] ■ JOSEPH McLENNAN TO BE RACING SECRETARY p. AT HIALEAH PARK • NEW YORK, N. Y., May 12.— Joseph McLennan, one of the most popular and efficient racing secretaries, will fill that important office for the Miami Jockey Club at Hialeah Park next winter. This appointment was made possible by Edward R. Bradley turning over the contract he held on McLennan to the Miami Jockey Club. For several years Mr. Bradley has had McLennan in his official family at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans and the contract runs through next winter. The acquisition of McLennan means much to the Florida sport and both he and the club are to be congratulated. There is no official so universally liked and respected and his moving to Florida for next winter is just a part of an elaborate program that is already in the making for the winter sport at Hialeah Park. Some time ago announcement was made of a Bradley interest in the Miami Jockey Club and the transfer of the McLennan contract is assurance that the master of Idle Hour Farm and owner and breeder of the Kentucky Derby winner, Burgoo King, proposes to take a livelier interest than ever before in Florida racing. When racing was first brought to Miami J. B. Campbell was the racing secretary. He was followed by the late William Dondas, who died in Miami during his term of office. Then Tony Wallace ably filled the important office up to and including the racing of last winter.
