NATIONAL TURF ORGANIZATION ___——_— In Washington there is an association, too little known, that has already done much j for the American turf, and it is constantly doing more. This ig the National Thoroughbred Foundation, and it is described as "an | organization for the public dissemination of information for the advancement of the thoroughbred horse." Some years ago Admiral Cary T. Grayson, Edward Riley Bradley and some other public spirited sportsmen began this campaign of education on behalf of the turf * and the thoroughbred interests of the coun-: try and the National Thoroughbred Foundation has grown from that original organization. Harry R. Stringer, director of the foundation, with offices in Washington, has kept a close watch on all legislation bearing in any remote way on both the turf and the thoroughbred industry. It was the alertness of the foundation and the invaluable aid of Senator Tydings that the ten percent tax on pari-mutuel tickets was effectively blocked. And the same organization was decidedly helpful in beating the proposed Federal tax of twenty-five percent on race course admissions.
