STARS FOR LATONIA DERBY Burgoo King and Tick On Among the Nominations Received — Expect a Record List of Entries. LATONIA, Ky., June 2.— Burgoo King, which carried Col. Edward Riley Bradleys colors to victory in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes and Mrs. L. G. Kaufmans Tick On, favorite for both events, will have an opportunity of definitely settling the three-year-old supremacy in the Golden Jubilee Latonia Derby. Nominations of these two cracks were received this morning by resident manager Russell Sweeney. Colonel Bradley also nominated Bubble Up, while On Post was nominated with Tick On. Nominations for the seven stakes to be decided during the thirty-one day spring meeting starting Saturday, June 25, close at midnight tonight and from all indications the best three-year-olds in training will be eligible for the gruelling struggle, which has its decision at the Derby distance of one mile and one-half Saturday, July 2. The Derby, which had its inception as the Hindoo Stakes in 1883, carries an added value of 5,000, but in the event Burgoo King enters the charmed circle, owner Bradley will receive an additional ,000 as the owner of both a Kentucky and Latonia Derby winner. In addition to naming Burgoo King and Bubble Up for the Derby, Colonel Bradley made liberal nominations to the Clipsetta Stakes and Cincinnati Trophy, while Max Hirsch, who trains Tick On and On Post, sent in the nominations of Morton L. Schwartz Barcelona Pete and Gusto for the Derby. Willis Sharpe Kilmer, whose Exterminator finished second to Johren in 1918, named the home-bred Sunmelus to carry his silks in the Derby, while Suntica, which won the Kentucky Oaks for the Binghamton sportsman, is eligible for the Latonia Oaks and will have a stablcmate in Dark Charmer. Walter J. Salmon, who races under the nom de course of the Mereworth Stud, nominated Mad Pursuit for the Derby. The son of Mad Hatter, which finished second to Top Flight in the Futurity and fourth to Top Flight, Tick On and Burgoo King in the Pimlico Futurity, will not be making his first western invasion. He accepted for the Kentucky Jockey Clubs Stakes at Latonia last fall and finished eighth in the mile race, which was won by Kakapo. Mrs. Payne Whitney will be represented in the Derby by Pro Bono. The three-year-old son of Chicle and Bonus and a half-brother to Twenty Grand, is now training in the East. The Oaktree Stable nominated Bahamas, while A. Bartelstein nominated Kibitzer and Tonkel. Princess Camelia, which carried Mrs. John Marschs colors into fourth place in the Kentucky Oaks, was among the many named by the Marsch family. Prince Atheling, Zone and Camp Boss will carry her husbands colors in the handicaps, while the Chicago contractor and sportsman is also a liberal nominator to the two-year old stakes. Although it will be the first of next week* * before the list of nominations will be compiled, those already received are from the leading stables in the country and with every assurance that the seven stakes will engage the best of their age and class. am
