WASHINGTON raced into contention soon after the start and held on well. DAUDET, arway slowly, made up much ground and was going gamely at the end. SWEET FLAG also closed well. DEMAGOGUE showed early speed. BEAU CAVALIER tired badly in the stretch. The others were never serious contenders. VOLTA MAID was off more slowly than usual, but quickly raced into contention and, coming through on the inside of JUDGE PRIMROSE near the stretch turn, took a short lead and held it to the end. MONKS FIRST went to the outside in the stretch and finished fast. FRENCH HONEY saved ground in the stretch and finished gamely. JUDGE PRIMROSE showed good early speed, but tired in the stretch. BLAST met interference when ANDORA attempted to wheel at the .start, but closed a gap steadily on the outside and overtook JANE PACKARD in the closing strides. JANE PACKARD was in close quarters oh the far turn, but continued gamely. ANDORA attempted to wheel at the start, then dashed into a contending position, but was tiring at the end. INHERITOR and FORT DEARBORN were going well at the end. SIR SATIN and HAMILTON tired badly. FREELAND closely in the early stages, but tired when he met interference from the winner at mid stretch. DR. FREELAND came through on the inside, took command after an eighth and saved ground thereafter, but was in close quarters at mid-stretch and tired thereafter.
