SPECIAL RACE AT BELMONT NEW YORK, N. Y., June 18. There is an excellent prospect for a special race of big importance for the fall racing season at Belmont Park. Both C. V. Whitney and James Butler have agreed to start their stars, Equipoise and Questionnaire, and it is expected that A. C. Bostwick would send Mate in such a race. The idea is to have it a test at scale weight over, possibly, the mile and a quarter distance and any other horses that might develop a quality to be worthy of starting in such a contest will be invited to perform. ..In such a season it is agreed that, such a race would be of great benefit in stimulating interest in the sport.
