BLENHEIM TRIUMPHANT Carries Wheatley Stable Silks Home First in Brooklyn Handicap. - Easily Leads Home Pari-Mutuel and Mate Sandy Bill Victorious in the Hudson Stakes. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 18. Blenheim carried the silks of the Wheatley Stable to a well earned victory in the Brooklyn Handicap at Aqueduct today. It was the most important score of his career and added just ,800 to his earnings. Well back of him Joseph E. Wideners Pari-Mutuel, the lightweight of the party, saved second place from A. C. Bostwicks Mate in a furious drive. This was the big event of the week-end racing and companion features for the holiday card were the Hudson Stakes, for two-year-olds, that saw J. H. Louchheims Sandy Bill an easy winner and the Winfield Steeplechase Handicap, which brought a thrilling contest with the Greentree Stables Jack Anthony triumphant. It was racing that attracted one of the largest crowds of the meeting, though the weather was not entirely comfortable when skies were overcast and there was an unnatural chill in the air. In the Brooklyn the start was an excellent one and Hank Mills at once shot out with Blenheim to take the lead he never had to relinquish. The early pace was a bit slow as the son of Blanford was showing the way. "Pete" Bostwick had Mate galloping along under restraint back of the pace and War was a close third and racing on the outside of the son of Prince Pal. Aegis was close after these and at the tail of the lot came White Clover II., winner of the Suburban Handicap, and Pari-Mutuel. MAINTAINS LEAD. This order was maintained in the run through the back stretch. Then on the turn War dashed up on the outside to move into second place before Mate, but Blenheim was still holding to his lead and racing strongly. Aegis was doing his best but Pari-Mutuel was gradually moving up and Rocky News and White Clover II. were the trailers. Swinging into the stretch Mr. Bostwiqk saved much ground with Mate in the hope he could send his mount through on the inside, but Mills left scant room on the rail when he went over with Blenheim and then, a furlong out, Pari-Mutuel was seen charging through the field in gallant fashion. Hebert was driving him furiously, but it was of no avail and Blenheim was over the line winner by two lengths. The Widener light weight had beaten Mate a neck for second place and War was a distant fourth when he was three lengths away. Aegis was fifth and Rocky News led White Clover II. over the line easily. Sandy Bill was an easy victor in the Hudson Stakes. It carried a value of ,625 to the winner and at the end the swift-running chestnut was three lengths before Dynastic, which just beat Puchero and Okapi in a hard drive. After the start, which was a good one, it was only a chase after Sandy Bill for the others. Eisenberg was second through the early racing and Okapi was right with him, while Dynastic was just a bit slow in leaving his stall and it took him some time to settle into full racing stride. When he did he made up ground rapidly and it was that charge that enabled him to drop his head down in front of Puchero to take second place. The Ziegler colt also finished strongly, while Okapi tired under his top impost of 125 pounds. Eisenberg quit badly to finish last of the six that raced and Mahomet was never a real contender. ACCIDENT IN OPENER. An accident occurred before the running of the first race when Epidawn ran off with Malley and the boy hurt a foot to such an extent that S. Renick was substituted. All of this took some time and the other riders were permitted to dismount. The race was a seven furlong dash and it went to Cheela, which won from Integrity, which, in turn, took second place from Pro Bono, with Gold Sweeper closing a considerable gap to be fourth.
