ATTENTION: BERT KENNEDY I Bert Kennedy, your attention is directed to the following telegram from Covington, Ky., "Your friend Mike Flanagan is dead." It is believed that either during his final hard workout for the Derby before he left New York or while in shipment or shortly after his arrival at Washington Park, Boatswain suffered an injury to his left foreleg. The injury, detected yesterday, did not attain serious magnitude until last night, it was said, and this morning the crack son of Man o War was very lame. There is every indication, according to those in charge of the colt, that his trouble is in one of the tendons and it may develop that he is bowed. So serious and painful did the injury appear today, that the colt may be lost to racing for the remainder of the year.
