TRAGEDY STALKS AGAIN I REMOVING BOATSWAIN i - - - HOMEWOOD, 111., June 18. The tragedy that has stalked the leading three-year-olds almost since the opening of the season, again manifested itself in great and costly force when only a short time before the running of the American Derby, it removed Walter M. Jeffords Boatswain from the field fpr that important and rich fixture, renewed this afternoon at Washington Park. Boatswain, shipped to the local track from Aqueduct for todays race, was this morning in such disabled physical condition that nothing that might have permitted him to fill the Derby engagement, could be done and trainer Preston Burch, who remained in New York to saddle other of his horses for stakes engagements at Aqueduct, ordered him withdrawn.
