AGA KHANS ENTRY FAVORITE St. Leger Now Considered Open Affair Because of Absence of Early Choices. Special Cablegram. LONDON, England, Aug. 20 Lord Roseberys Miracle, winner of the Eclipse and Newmarket Stakes and erstwhile favorite for the St. Leger Stakes, pulled up lame after a week-end gallop at Newmarket and is now a doubtful starter in the last of the classics to be run at Doncaster September 7. The mishap to Miracle, following the accident to the Derby winner, April the Fifth, has given the St. Leger contest a more open appearance, and virtually upset the future book betting on the classic. A callover of the St Leger card at the Victoria Club here last night saw the Aga Khans Dastur and Udaipur joint, first choices, at 9 to 2, in a weak market. Little business was recorded. W. Mortimer G. Singers Onwell, reported to be galloping sound at Man ton, was cut from 12 to i to 6 to 1. He now is joint second choice with John A. Dewars Violator. April the Fifth, which is still reckoned a doubtful starter, though his owner-trainer, Tom Walls, is resorting to every means to get the son of Craig-an-Eran to the "post, was offered at 9 to 1. Mrs. C. Hichs Silvermere, winner of the Ascot Gold Vase, and a proved stayer, had some supporters at 100 to 7. This colt is rated a certain starter inthe St. Leger Trial Stakes at Hurst Park .next Saturday. If he should win, which is not unlikely, he will be a shorter price in the St. Leger market. Sir John Rutherfords Andrea is 100 to 6, the same odds offered against Edward Esmonds Royal Dancer, which finished a close fourth in the Derby. The only other horses prominent at the Victoria Club callover were the Aga Khans Firdaussi, recent winner of the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood, at 25 to 1, and R. Crok-er"s Irish-bred and trained Celebrator, which finished sixth in the Derby, 40 to 1. There are still eighty-six horses eligible to start in the St. Leger. The final acceptance date for the last of the classics is August 30.
