1 1 . , ! : j ! : : . . MOUNT ROYAL MEETING OPENS Capitol Theater Handicap Heads Good Program Westys Fox and Jockey Watson Score. MONTREAL, Que., Aug. 20. Racing was welcomed back to Montreal Saturday afternoon by a crowd of 6,000 at Mount Royal that saw a good program on a track that had dried out rapidly after recent rains. Favorites were in the limelight, with outsiders scoring occasionally. The Capitol Theater Handicap, a dash of six furlongs that featured the card, saw a return to form of the fleet gray colt, Westys Fox, which took the measure of the consistent Hogarty rather handily after leading throughout, with Noon Play an easy third. Returning to a distance in which he is at his best. Westys Fox, with Watson up, moved up with a rush right after the start to wrest command from Hogarty and thereafter dominated the race. He had a lead of several lengths in the early stages, but Hogarty reduced this near the final turn. Watson pulled the gray together and settled him down after which he moved along smoothly to the end. Hogarty easily saved second place from Noon Play, which had held the others safe all through.
