ADVANCE GUARD AT LATONIA i Horses in Large Shipments Will Arrive This Week Three Rich Stakes to Be Contested. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 3. Preparations for the Latonia Jockey Clubs annual autumn meeting of twenty-eight days, opening here on Wednesday, October 12, are so far advanced that little more than more or less minor routine details remain to receive official consideration during the ten days before the season gets under way. The great influx of racing material will begin within the next few days and the arrival of scores of horses daily will make for lively pre-meeting scenes about these picturesque racing grounds. The first program book of conditions is ready for distribution and dates for the four principal features have been announced. Stakes to be renewed are the 5,000 added Latonia Championship Stakes for three-year-olds, 5,000 added Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes for two-year-olds, ,000 added Breeders Futurity for two-year-olds, and ,000 Latonia Cup Handicap for three-year-olds and over. Beginning next Wednesday morning when the first of the larger shipments of horses from Lincoln Fields is scheduled to reach the Latonia chute, thoroughbreds will arrive in large numbers daily for a week. At this time slightly more than one hundred horses are on the grounds. Facilities for the handling of the "daily double," the betting feature to be introduced during the meeting, are being installed in both the main betting inclosure and in the club house. This novel combination will be operated under the same regulations as at Lincoln Fields and other tracks. It was first introduced in Kentucky at the Dade Park summer meeting.
