JAMAICA TURF NOTES t s Work on covering the Widener course for the winter was started by track superintendent Pels at Belmont Park. A two-foot layer of straw will be placed over the strip. Balios and Dark Secret, which James Fitzsimmons had at Havre de Grace, were returned to Aqueduct by George Tappen. Jockey Mills returned from Havre de Grace. Minch Williams, who was at Saratoga with a division of the S. N. Holman stable, arrived here. Word was received here from Washington that Mrs. Mike McDonoghue, wife of the well-known sportsman, underwent an operation for appendicitis.
