JOCKEY ELSTON IMPROVING LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 27. Gilbert Elston, crack young jockey, who suffered severe injuries in a fall n the closing race here Tuesday, regained consciousness last night and his condition today was very encouraging. Barring new complications, he is expected to pull through, but it Vill be months before he can again resume riding. Elston today recognized and conversed with the several friends who called at his hospital room and, if his courage, spirit and determination counts, he should be up and around in a comparatively short time. Monte Parke, the diminutive apprentice, who was held responsible for the accident in which Elston went down, has been at Elstons side almost constantly since the accident. Parke and Elston are inseparable pals.
