BOWIE STAKES PATRONIZED Many Prominent Stables of Country . Sending in Entries for Valuable Features to Be Decided. BOWIE, Md., Oct 27. Although the closing time for the four important stakes to be xun during the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associations fourteen-day meeting, beginning November 14, is Saturday, mid- night, horsemen have already responded generously. Racing secretary Joseph McLennan states that every first-class racing establishment in. America and Canada has named its. best for the 5,000 Bryan and OHara Memorial Handicap, as well as for the ,500 Thanksgiving Day Handicap, ,500 Endurance Handicap and ,000 Prince Georges Autumn Handicap. With racing associations throughout the country curtailing at every opportunity, Jo-, seph B. Boyle and Thomas Kirby Lynch, the guiding spirts of the association operating- -. this plant, are to be congratulated upon their giving horsemen an opportunity to run for such rich purses this late in the year. The Bryan and OHara Memorial is at a mile and three-sixteenths and will very likely see a meeting between Equipoise and Twenty Grand. Brennan thinks lie will have the Greentree Stables star at his best in time for the Bryan and OHara Memorial on Tuesday, November 29. . Trainers of two-year-olds are anxiously looking toward the Endurance, for the winner is usually installed the favorite in -the winter book made on the following years Kentucky Derby. The Endurance will .be run on Saturday, November 26, and will be a test of one and one-sixteenth miles. Three-year-olds will have the Prince Georges Autumn Handicap, a mile and one-sixteenth affair, all to themselves on Saturday, November 19. The Thanksgiving Day Handicap, on Thursday, November 24, will also be a mile and one-sixteenth test, but for three-year-olds and upward. Horsemen are advised not to ship here without first being notified by track superintendent Richard Fending that they have been allotted space, as the demand far exceeds the supply of stalls. The new offices of the host organization are located at 317 Baltimore Life Building, Charles and Saratoga streets, Baltimore, Md., where all stake nominations should be sent. . .
