DESTROY HAND GRENADE SAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 27. Hand Grenade, generally conceded to be leading sire of the Pacific coast, broke a leg and was destroyed Wednesday at the Baron Long ranch, near here, where he has stood since being purchased from the estate of the late Dr. H. J. Macomber in 1924. The horse was foaled in England and imported to Mira Monte Stock Farm, near San Jose, where he stood for sevr-al seasons. Hand Grenade was eighteen years old. The best year for his progeny was 1930, when they won a total of 102 races. Among his best sons and daughters were Judge Schilling, Crofton, Taddywawa, Norab, Hatrick and several other good platers.
