Three-year-olds meet in a gruelling test here tomorrow in the Bowie Handicap, at one mile and a half. This is a prize of ,000 added and the ten that have been named should furnish an excellent renewal. The Bowie is a stake that was first run at Pimlico in 1909 and its roster of winners contains the names of several notables of the American turf. Last year it was won by A. C. Bostwicks Mate. For the running this year there are two sons of Mad Hatter, a previous winner in C. V. Whitneys Mad Frump and Adolphe Pons Mad Pursuit. Mad Frump is at the top of the acceptances with 114 pounds. This colt raced second to Gallant Sir in the Latonia Championship Stakes Saturday and to have him run a mile and a half the following Tuesday brings too long gallops close together, but he is a tough colt and may readily give a good account of himself. Gallant Sir, winner of the Latonia Championship, was not named today as a starter in the Bowie, though he won the Latonia prize with great ease. He had been handicapped at equal weights with the Whitney colt. Dark Secret, the Wheatley Stable hope, is in under 112 pounds and the fact that the going will be muddy will be to his advantage. S. W. Labrots Springsteel is another that will try for the prize and he recently showed a return to good form. Mrs. C. Oliver Iselins Magyar, recent conqueror of Masked Knight, is also in the field and Dr. J. Fred Adams Rehoboth is a light weight that may prove troublesome. W. W. Vaughans good filly Canron is another that will have a following, and Late Date, the B. B. Jones hope, is another filly that has been coming up to the race nicely.
