LATONIA CUP ON SATURDAY Well Balanced Field Expected to Contest in Long Distance and Closing Day Feature. LATONIA, Ky., Nov. 7. Although the more fashionable will be missing from the field that contests Saturdays renewal of the Latonia Cup Handicap, it will be well balanced and include several of the best second flight distance performers in the West. Perhaps the better known of the probable starters in this popular two miles and one-quarter fixture are Charles T. Fishers Cee Tee, wb-m finished fourth in the Latonia Championship; W. H. White-houses Royal Julian, cup winner of 1930, and F. A. Wehles consistent four-year-old filly, La Feria. Border Warrant, the Irish colt owned by Raoul Walsh; H. Oots Tela, H C. Hatchs Boys Howdy, J. F. ONeils Quando, E. Haughtons Easy, H. S. Temples Brass Monkey, Mrs. S. C. Hunts Englewood and A. C. Urbans Come On are others eyeing this closing day feature. The distance of this event adds uncertainty most pleasing to enthusiasts and it has been several years since cup day has not been the banner one of the fall season. Popular with the fans, the race does not require the best of the turf to hold its great appeal and no matter what the size or quality of Saturdays field the management may safely expect the largest crowd of the meeting. The fact that it usually is run on closing day has, of course, been a factor in the presence of the large crowds that have witnessed recent runnings, but be that as it may, Latonia patrons take more interest in it than the richer and more important stakes.
