[ BROKERS TIP DOUBTFUL ] J STARTER IN PREAKNESS ; LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 12.— Unless a very feverish fore ankle is normal tomorrow, Brokers Tip will not fill his engagement in the Preakness Stakes. This information was given out here this morning by Col. Edward R. Bradley, owner of the Kentucky Derby winner and after he had talked over long distance with trainer William Hurley who has the son of Black Toney and Fort-eresse at Pimlico. The ailment, detected by Hurley Thursday morning, is believed serious enough that any severe aggravation might destroy the crack three-year- Ids usefulness as a racing tool. Colonel Bi *dley said that from information furnished by Hurley, an osseus growth probably is developing. "After talking to Hurley this morning, I do not entertain much hope for the colt to start in the Preakness," said Colonel Bradley. "Hurley assured me that the ailment yielded to treatment yesterday and last night, but after breezing a half mile in :48% on a tough track this morning, the colt again was feverish in the ankle. That, to me, is not very encouraging." Colonel Bradley had railroad reservations for himself and party cancelled. He had planned to leave this afternoon for Baltimore to witness the Preakness running.
