Later Hart will receive six or eight others from the farm. Grover Hughes, who has Black Babble, Lucky Prince and Tommy Basil here, turned them over to H. Cavanaugh and returned to Lexington, where he has five in training. Two of the latter are owned by Brownell Combs. Hughes reports that Manta and Murky Cloud, owned by Combs, have been retired for breeding purposes. Manta was bred to Infinite and Murky Cloud to Wise Counsellor. Following the Downs meeting, all the horses of Hughes will be pointed for Latonia racing. D. E. Stewart returned from Lexington, where he inspected the Calumet Farm horses in training there. The Lexington and Downs units will be joined for the Washington Park meeting. With the close here D. T. Hisles division of Col. E. R. Bradleys stable goes to Washington Park, where it will be turned over to William Hurley about June 1. Hurley ships his string from Bowie to the Homewood track and upon being relieved Hisle returns to Idle Hour Farm, where he will look after the yearlings and a few older horses in training. H. J. Thompson takes the main division to Belmont Park and plans to get away Sunday, May 21. He will handle Barn Swallow for the Kentucky Oaks, to be run here May 20, closing day of the meeting. With several horses in the Southland Stable coughing, trainer John Daniels decided to leave Playtime and My Hobby, which are ready to resume training, at Howard Blacks farm until the ailing horses are improved. He had Pass Christian unsexed. James C. Ellis, owner of Dade Park, is a visitor. He confirmed the announcement made yesterday that the Dade Park summer meeting would embrace at least twenty-five days, which is the same number the western Kentucky track operated last summer. * Albeit Sabath is a visitor for the weekend sport. While here for the Derby last week, he was in charge of the Derby description broadcast over WGN. His First Vote, Bugs Leary, Fannie Brice and Heiress have been added to the string Louis Kahn is training for him. James T. Looneys Sweeprush, winner of four of his last five engagements, will be shipped to Aurora to fill his engagement in the Illinois Derby, to be run a week from Saturday. J. H. McCoole has taken up Soothing, and along with Volwood, Copley Square and Bostonian Gal, she goes to Washington Park Sunday. McCoole intends to dispose of Bunt ing Lad before shipping. — — m
