BA600 LEADER THROUGHOUT Gross Racer Easily Wins June Day Purse at Bainbridge Park. Whangdoodle, Favorite, in First Ohio Start, Finishes Third Chantesuta Defeats Chalk Eye, Zombro. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, June 1 Baboo carried the colors of H. Gross to an easy victory in the June Day Purse, the fifth event at Bainbridge Park, this afternoon. Jockey H. L. Fischer sent the winner to the front at once and he was never threatened at any stage of the journey. Penn raced into second place at the turn for home, when Lonell gave up, and he maintained this position to the end. Whangdoodle was making his seasons debut locally and was installed favorite. He failed to justify the confidence placed in him and it was only during the final furlong that he came from behind to finish a distant third. Pacheco showed one of his inferior performances and trailed his field far in the rear for most of the trip. The racing was staged under ideal conditions and the attendance was of average proportions for an off day. . Making her local debut, M. D. Livingstons Chantesuta was established a pronounced choice in the second race. She made good "in no uncertain way and led by a comfortable margin practically throughout. Chalk Eye, another newcomer, retained a safe lead over the others all through the stretch. Zombro raced up into third place at the far turn which position he failed to improve in the run home. Toltec attempted to make a runaway affair of the third race but midway of the stretch Fill In challenged on the inside and Knockabout on the outside of the tiring leader. Fill In proved best and won going away. Donday came from far back in the stretch run and eventually headed Knockabout in the closing strides for the second place. Toltec quit to a walk during the closing stages. Donna Lascari left the maiden ranks when she wore down the speedy Modern Lash, the pacemaker, during the last sixteenth of the opening race. Modern Lash appeared an easy winner when midway of the stretch, but failed to withstand the winners, challenge. Never far from the leaders, Little - Bubbles retained a safe margin over the others for third all through the stretch. Miss Frisky, after having shown numerous creditable efforts during this meeting, finally made good for Miss Alice Blake, when she captured the fourth race rather handily. Maximum and Blue John contested the leadership closely lapped until midway of the stretch, where Miss Frisky moved up on the outside and won, going away. During the final drive Maximum outlasted Blue John for the second award. This trio dominated the running throughout.
