HEAD PLAY IN THE CLASSIC Preakness Winner and Mr. Khayyam Among Latest Entries in Arlingtons Big Feature. " The nominations of Mrs. S. B. Masons Head Play and the Catawba Stables Mr. Khayyam for the 5,000 added Classic, to be run at Arlington Park, July 15, were received by the Arlington Park Jockey Club today. Head Play, winner of the Preakness after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby, is the favorite for the American Derby to be run Saturday, the date on which nominations to the Classic and four other Arlington stakes will be closed. Mr. Khayyam holds a victory over Head Play in the Wood Memorial Stakes and previously captured the Chesapeake Stakes. He, too, has come here for the American Derby. Other eastern nominations to the Classic are those of War Glory and War Stripes, two sons of Man o War, owned by the Glen Riddle Stable of Samuel D. Riddle. They are now in preparation for the Belmont Stakes. In addition to placing Head Play in the Classic, trainer Thomas P. Hayes has nominated him for the Arlington Inaugural, Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps. Trainer Hayes also entered Epithet in the Inaugural and The Nut in the latter two events, while he nominated Dark Devil for the Hyde Park Stakes.
