ASK EQUIPOISE TO CARRY 139 Walter S. Vosburgh Assigns Crushing Impost to Champion in Saratoga Handicap, August 5. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., July 27. Handicapper Walter S. Vosbergh has asked Equipoise to carry 139 pounds in the Saratoga Handicap over one mile and a quarter. This is the same weight Whisk Broom n. carried to victory in his Memoriable victory in the Suburban Handicap, and it may be the son of Pennant and Swinging has a fame that warrants requiring him to shoulder thirteen pounds over the scale, but it is a heavy impost and Healey would be justified in not accepting. Dark Secret, second on the list, is three pounds under the scale, which gives him a sixteen-pound pull over the Whitney champion, and then comes ot. Brideaux with 120 as his burden. Gusto, winner of the American Derby and Classic of last year, takes up 119 pounds and then comes Blenheim under 117 pounds. War valory, winner of the Dwyer, heads the three-year-olds with 115 pounds as his burden and the others scale down from this assignment. It is the misfortune of Equipoise to be a great horse in a bad year, but it would be too bad if weight should be piled on him until he is broken down to make room for bad horses in a handicap. The weights for the Saratoga Handicap, with ,500 added, for three-year-olds and over, to be run Saturday, August 5, over one mile and a quarter, follow: Horse. Wt. Horse. Wt.
