1 ARLINGTON PARK NOTES I s $ Jockey W. D. Wright, who had been on the ground since Friday, last, resumed riding Wednesday. Although the stewards ,gave out no statement, it was learned through sources close to the officials that they investigated his ride on Prince Dun-royal in a race Friday. It was indicated that the stewards held Wright guilty of a bit of carelessness in failing to prevent Prince Dunroyal from bearinpr out as he tired in that race and the manner in which Prince Dunroyal conducted himself under J. Renick yesterday, probably did much to absolve Wright. J. M. Milburn returned from Lexington, where he and his employer E. B. Benjamin, who uses the nom de course of Starmount Stable, inspected a number of yearlings several of which probably will be purchased by Mr. Benjamin, who took options on the youngsters. Mr. Benjamin is most desirous of racing a formidable string and. will extensively replenish his stable with younger material this fall. Jockey Bob Jones reported ill Wednesday and received permission to cancel his engagements. Francis Dunne leaves Saturday for Cincinnati, where he will take up his duties with the Cincinnati Jockey Club, operating Coney Island. Col. Matt J. Winn, who returned to Chicago from Latonia Monday, left today for a short rest with members of his family in the lake region and upon his return next week, will, inaugurate preparations for the fall meetings at Lincoln Fields and Washington Park. Thomas R. Underwood, Lexington newspaperman and secretary of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, and Mrs. Underwood were among the visitors at Arlington Park Wednesday. When trainer A. Schwartz was unable to provide full identification certificates for Fair Boy the stewards ordered the four-year-old withdrawn from the second race. H. T. Fleming was reported to have reached Hawthorne with three horses, which will be raced here for the remainder of the Chicago season. For rough riding in the third race Wednesday, jockey E. Arcaro was suspended for ten days. As this meeting concludes in three days, the stewards recommended that the remainder of the penalty be imposed at the next meeting. Since his return from Latonia, D. A. Headley has been looking after the H. P. Headley horses, while owner Headley is commuting between Arlington and his Beaumont Farm in Kentucky, where a score or more yearlings are awaiting breaking and early lessons. Swivel, Adolphe Pons chief hope for the Chicago Derby to be revived during the coming Hawthorne meeting, did a good move over a mile when she covered the distance on the Arlington main course in 1:41 this morning. She was snugged along under a handy hold throughout and was timed in :47 for the first half-mile and in 1:13 for three-quarters. F. A. Griffiths Sarada, another almost certain to contest the same Hawthorne Stake, breezed one mile and a furlong in 1:59. He also worked over the Arlington main track. R. N. Vestal, with the Three Ds Stock Farm horses, got away for the Three Ds Farm at Arlington, Texas, yesterday. .Vestal stated that following a rest, the horses probably would be prepared for racing during the late autumn meeting to be held at Arlington Downs, the ,000,000 course W. T. Waggoner constructed on the Three Ds Farm several years ago. The Calumet Farm Stable of Warren Wright, Chicago patron, will next campaign at Saratoga and trainer D. E. Stewart plans to pull up stakes on Sunday. Several of the Calumet two-year-olds have important engagements at the Spa course. With Arlington Park closing Saturday several stables which will not be represented in the Friday and Saturday racing, will be transferred to Hawthorne Friday. A. greater number will move on to the Stickney track Saturday, and Sunday will see the hegira of racing thoroughbreds and their handlers at the peak. The Everglade Stable, along with several horses raced here by D. Bentham and the remainder of the M. L. and A. C. Schwartz and Max Hirsch establishment pulled out for Saratoga Thursday morning. Jockey H. Schutte, accompanied by Bob Bolton, leaves tonight for Latonia, where Schutte will ride Bamboula in the Latonia Oaks Saturday. T. P. Hayes is shipping Ray Blades and Marse Chan to Coney Island. Hayes recently resigned as trainer of the Mrs. S. B. Mason and Warm Stable horses.
