PLAN FOR WINTER MEETING Directors of Crescent City Jockey Club Schedule Meeting for First Week at Hawthorne. The Crescent City Jockey Club, owners of the Fair Grounds, at New Orleans, is outlining its plans for the winter season. During the first week at Hawthorne, a meeting of the board of directors will be held, as all of them are in Chicago at the present time, and definite plans laid out for the meeting which opens January 22 and runs to March 17 inclusive. The management has been interviewing a number of prominent layers in different parts of the country on the prospective innovation of placing books in the clubhouse, and there seems to be a most popular response to this movement. A tentative price has been agreed on of 50 a day for seven races, and anyone of good character will be permitted to cut in. The grandstand will be continued as a co-operative betting plant and no books will be allowed in that enclosure. It is probable that all of the old fixtures, including the Louisiana Derby, will be renewed.
