CALIFORNIAS STATE I RACING COMMISSION --------------------4 SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 27. The California senate late Wednesday confirmed Governor Rolphs appointments to the racing commission. The appointees are: William P. Roth, president of the Matson Navigation Company. Carleton Burke, well known polo player of Los Angeles, who has a horse breeding farm at Ventura. John A. McNaughton of Los Angeles, stock yards official. Roth will serve for four years, McNaughton three years, and Burke two years. The trio will meet within the next few , days and organize and appoint a chairman. iThe board will then select a secretary at a salary of ,000 a year, as provided in the i recently enacted law. Later it will be called upon to select inspectors for the various tracks to which it issues licenses. The members of the commission serve without pay. Several promoters are known to be seeking licenses to operate tracks in the vicinity of San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento. It is also probable that certain interests will seek to establish a track at Fresno.
