CHICAGO DERBY REVIVAL Announce Running of 0,000 Race at Hawthorne Sept. 2. Another New Attraction in the ,000 John C. Schank Memorial Added to List of Features. That the Chicago Derby positively will be revived by the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association and run on the closing day September 2 of the Hawthorne meeting, opening Monday, and the John C. Schenck Memorial Handicap, carrying ,000 in added money anr" for sprinters, three-year-olds and over, has. been added to the list of features for the thirty-day meeting, were important announcements made Thursday by Joseph A. Murphy, .general manager and acting president of that track. The Chicago Derby, which, as the name implies, will be for three-year-olds exclusively, will have 0,000 in added money attached. The distance will be one mile and a quarter The sprint handicap will be decided over six and one-half furlongs and will top the program for Saturday, August 26, which is two days after Hawthorne Gold Cup Day. This latter fixture, which carries 5,000 in added money, is the richest and most important race programmed. In deciding upon a ,000 race for sprinters, general manager Murphy dropped the two promised ,500 races. He hopes to bring together all the best sprinters for the first running of this new feature. Entries for both the Chicago Derby and the John C. Schenck Memorial will close August 15. Subscriptions to the Derby will be at 5 each, with 00 additional to start, while a like starting fee and 0 entry charge will prevail for the ,000 race. Full conditions for the two are as follows: The Chicago Derby, 0,000 added, to be run Saturday, September 2. For three-year-olds foaled in 1930. By subset iption of 5 each, which shall accompany the nomination, starters to pay 00 additional to the winner with 0,000 added, of which 000 to second, ,000 to third and 00 to fourth. Weight, 126 pounds. Non-winners of a three-year-olds race of 0,000, allowed 3 pounds; of such a race of 5,000, 5 pounds; a sweepstake at any time, 8 pounds. Starters to be named through the entry box the day preceding the race by 10:30 a. m. Entries close Aueust 15. One Mile and a Quarter. John C. Schank Memorial Handicap, ,000 added, to be run Saturday, August 26. A handicap for three-year-olds and upward. By subscription of 0 each, which shall accompany the nomination, starters to pay 00 additional to the - inner, with ,000 added, of which ,000 I. second, 00 to third and 50 to fourth.
