1 EMPIRE CITY TURF NOTES f I ; : ? Mrs. C. W. Williams has been converted into a believer of the Cycle of Three. She is without doubt the only sportswoman who had the misfortune of seeing two of her horses fall in races in one weeks time. Yesterday she received a telegram from her home, Worthington Valley, Md., that her sister had fallen and sustained a broken leg. Calvin Rainey, an apprentice under contract to Pat Knebelkamp, accepted his first mount Friday. He is a. nephew of J. D. Mooney. Hilton Dabson, leading rider at Rockingham Park, whose contract had been recently sold by L. Haymaker to R. J. Pending, accepted his first mount. J. Smallwood will make his engagements. Jockey Quattlebaum was suspended for three days by the starter for disobedience at the post. Balios was not named for the Yonkers Handicap. The colt came out of his final trial slightly lamed.
