BARKANTINE, hard ridden, closed ground on the outside on the turn, went around the leaders entering the stretch and, tiring after drawing clear, won under hard urging. LONG BIT, away slowly and on the extreme outside until reaching the stretch, where she came through some of the field and, closing strong, was overtaking the winner. SARACEN MAID saved ground throughout, but was forced back on the stretch turn and tired in the final drive. YTFIN closed strongly. KISSIE tired in the stretch. PORTEUSE finished stronglv. TIMOROUS, starting fast and taken under mild restraint before going a quarter, easily wore down LE-BRUYERE when ready and, drawing out, held AFTER DARK safe. The latter saved ground most of the way and closed resolutely in a good performance. LE BRUYERE worked his way clear in the first quarter, saved ground where possible and tired in the final eighth, but outlasted KUMMEL. The latter, blocked leaving the back stretch, went well when clear. KNOWLEDGE began slowly. SIR GARETH could not eet up. PRINTEMPS raced wide. Scratched 84837 Feliciana, 102; 84307 Olive Sabath. 107. VOLTA MAID took the lead on the inside in the first three-sixteenths, was restrained on the turn and, drawing away in the stretch, won without need of pressure, but had little left. BLACKSTRAP saved ground on the turn, but came out in the stretch and, closing resolutely, wore down MARCH KING. The latter, a strong factor from the start, went to the inside in the stretch and held on well. GUNFIRE appeared to stumble soon after the start and, dropping far out of it, was never a factor thereafter. LUNA MICA was weakly ridden. SUN CAPTOR quit. BROWN WISDOM was not a factor. MUMSIE, rated close to the pace, took command with a rush and held on gamely, but was not good enough. LE MISERABLE raced wide throughout, but closed strongly. CLOUD DOR tired in the closing three-sixteenths. OUR SAILOR, away fast and showing speed, was hard urged after a quarter, but tired badly after reaching the stretch. BROWN TONEY was outrun. FIDDLER, racing improved under a change in riders and benefited by the pace, went wide on the turn, but responded gamely after straightening up in the stretch and, disposing of the leaders, won without need of strong urging. RUSTY forced a good pace under good rating and, holding on gamely, outlasted LOUIE DEAR. The latter, away fast and sent along in the pacemaking, saved ground throughout and fought it out stubbornly. ALL HAIL, on the inside early, lost ground on the stretch turn and withstood the drive gamely. LAHOR began fast, but quickly dropped out of it and did not threaten. VILLAGE VAMP, fractious at the post and away slowlv. closed well, in a good effort. AL NEIMAN, close to the pace, weakened under pressure. ALADDINS DREAM had no mishaps. BELOW COST was under strong riding from the start and weakened badly in the stretch. NORTHGALIS, carrying a nose rope throughout, had speed, but quit badly after showing speed for three-quarters.
