NEWBTARCH FILLY IN A ROMP Grout an Pot Adds Wonder Purse at atLong Long Branch to Seasons List ListofVictories ofVictories TORONTO Ont June 12 Grout au Pot good threeyearbid daughter of Pot au Feu and Stephanie which performs for W T Newmarch was an easy winner of the best race of the afternoon at Long Branch This was the Wonder Purse The filly reached the end with two lengths to spare over Mrs C R Cranes Ladffeld arid third fell to the lot of Spey Crest from the W H Wright establishment Shady Well was fourth and Leonie was far back to com ¬ plete the field fieldLeonie Leonie was first out of the stalls but was soon supplanted in the lead when Spey Crest took command as Vercher stayed clpse to the inner rail and Foden and Erickson on the Newmarch filly and Ladfielct re ¬ spectively went wide in search of better going goingSpey Spey Crest continued to show the way until after passing the half mile post where Foden called upon Grout au Pot The filly soon took command and drew clear Mean ¬ while Erickson had Ladfield under a strong pull and it was not until only three fur ¬ longs remained to be traversed that the Crane cplorbearer was asked for his best bestFoden Foden picked his going in the stretch and drew into a long lead and Spey Crest was showing the way to Ladfield The Seagram mare had moved up but was in the deeper going next to the rail Grout au Pot con ¬ tinued to show fine speed and reached the finish well clear and without being unduly urged and Ladfield had succeeded in shak ¬ ing off Spey Crest to gain second place though never in a position to threaten the winner Leonie had dropped back badly and t Shady Well running strongly at the end was beaten a half length for third
