HAAS IS WELCOME ADDITION Strength of Fairinount Park Riding RidingColony Colony Increased by Arrival of ofHigdon Higdon Stable Jockey COLLINSVILLE 111 June 12 The riding colony at Fairmount Park this season one of the best in the history of the track has been given additional color by the recent arrival of Leon Buddy Haas One of the leading saddle artists of the country Haas contract has been leased to the Ross Higdon stable here for the re mainder of the thirtyfour day meeting by the Schwartz Brothers of New York and no sooner did Haas reach the scene than he began to make his presence felt feltLast Last Friday Haas gave a brilliant exhibi ¬ tion of horsemanship booting home four winners and a third in six mounts The next day he came back with two winners and two seconds in five mounts one of his winners being Flying Cadet in the Jefferson Hotel Handicap Dominating a card is a common experience in Haas life Last year he gained national recognition by piloting six winners in seven races at Thistle Down later riding five out of seven at the same track On numerous occasions he has brought down three winners in a day dayHaas Haas if he continues his great riding here will make a serious bid for the leading hon ¬ ors of the meet despite the fact that Hank Manifold has a big lead as a result of being In action since the inception of the meeting meetingManifold Manifold incidentally increased his lead over the field last week His record of nineteen victories thirteen seconds and eleven thirds in eightyone mounts for the first thirteen days shows him pacing Joe Dyer his nearest competitor by eight win ¬ ners Dyer in addition to eleven winners has booted home ten seconds and a like number of thirds in sixty mounts C Rol ¬ lins and L Wilson are deadlocked for third place with eight winners each
