POLLY HUNDRED DISAPPOINTS Air Squadron Takes Grand Haven Purse at Detroit Track Victory Fourth Consecutive Success of Day Dayfor for Outsiders Track Good for forDays Days Program DETROIT Mich June 12 Twoyearolds supplied the feature at Detroit this after ¬ noon and when Hal Price Headleys Air Squadron was an easy winner of the Grand Haven Purse which served as the fourth race it marked the fourth straight victory for those held in light esteem At the end of the five furlongs dash which attracted a field of six and for which the Fair Fields Stables Polly Hundred was a well backed choice the latter was three lengths back of the winner and a half of a length before C V Whitneys Brabble which was the best of Up and Up Skippy McGee and Glen Reveille ReveilleWhile While the winner experienced little trou ¬ ble in disposing of Skippy McGee Polly Hundred showed little of her good form that caused her to be installed a short priced choice She failed to respond to pressure in the first furlong and then showed an inclination to bear out after reaching the final three furlongs After leaving the back stretch Air Squadron which was making her first start in some time moved into command with a rush and as the sprint continued increased her advantage After his early burst of speed Skippy McGee tired fast while Brabble a daughter of Mad Hatter and Regret which was making her first start improved her position gradually and was a strong factor in the stretch Glen Reveille another first time starter was outrun outrunUnder Under 106 pounds one of the light weights of the field Air Squadron scored her third consecutive success and ran the distance over the good track in 101 101Despite Despite the rain that fell during the night the track was good for the program Heavy clouds gave a threat of rain but a good crowd braved the elements to view the sport A majority of the races resulted in close finishes finishesThe The improved Old Depot which races for Abe Bartelstein Chicago patron scored his fifth victory of the Detroit season and the first popular one of the day when he was a handy winner of the fifth race which en ¬ gaging five others over one mile was the supporting attraction Second went to A A Baronis Manya with Mrs A M Creechs Noahs Pride third The winner last under way and overcoming slight interference on the first turn was forced to improve his position on the outside and but for a light shaking up in the final sixteenth was never under undue pressure While Biff and Manya wpre indulged with the pace Noahs Pride was forced to lose ground for three quarters quartersFair Fair Duchess from the Detroitowned Odessa Farms Stable provided a mild sur ¬ prise in scoring her first success of the year over eleven other lowly platers that com ¬ peted over threequarters in the first race Black thirdFar Song was second with Moonsan third Far back of the pace of Black Song and Moonsan until reaching the stretch the win ¬ ner ridden by F Mauro passed the leaders gradually and although enjoying a two lengths advantage at the finish Fair Duch ¬ ess was under urging While Black Song and Moonsan raced head and head for the opening five furlongs Creole Bird the fa ¬ vorite was close to the pace throughout but failed to improve his position
