AMERICAN WINS WELSH DERBY Special Cablegram. CHEPSTOW, England. — The colors of another American owner were first in an important English race Saturday when Mrs. G. Washington Singers Monkshood won the Welsh Derby over a field of five others. Mrs. Corlette Glorneys Democrrt finished the course in second place, four lengths behind Monkshood, and E. J. Marshalls Happy Venture was a distant third. Monkshood, which shouldered 112 pounds, was favorite, at 8 to 11, with Democrat 7 to 1 and Happy Venture 5 to 1. Democrat carried ninety-eight pounds and Happy Venture 116.
