FEDERAL RESERVE, taken back out of close quarters leaving the back stretch, came through a narrow opening on the stretch turn, withstood a hard drive gamely and outlasted LACE SHAWL. The latter, on the outside from the start, finished gamely. ARCHWOOD, slow to get going, finished with a rush. WACKET tired after racing close up for five-eighths. BROWN TORCH saved ground while making the early pace. KOJI finished well. CRAIGCO went wide throughout. FASCINATOR tired fast in the last three eighths. SWEEPTRAP, outrun for three-eighths, moved up strongly near the stretch, but went to the outside and, disposing of CIRCULET, was gradually drawing clear at the end. CIRCULET wore down IRISH KID with a rush on the stretch turn, but was unable to hold the winner. CANNY AGE, in close quarters for a quarter, went to the outside for the drive, but was not good enough. ARBRANCH saved ground throughout, but was done after half a mile. IRISH KID, fractious at the post, began fast, but quit after five eighths. GENERAL MIXUP was not a factor.
