DUP0NT ASKS TWELVE STALLS Speedy Rosemont Heads String Intended for Havre Campaign. H. G. Bedwell, Admiral Cary T. Grayson, Mrs. Robert Heighe and W. W. Vaughan Also Make Reservations. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., March 29. William Dupont, Jr., who races under the nom de course of the Foxcatcher Farm, and whose stable includes the speedy Rosemont, one of the 1934 seasons outstanding two-year-olds, today wired superintendent James Ross for stalls for the twelve-day spring meeting beginning Monday, April 15. Rosemont, much to the surprise of the entire turf world, wasnt named for this years Kentucky Derby, which race, such a shrewd horseman as Col. Edward Riley Bradley thought, was made to order for the Foxcatcher Farm star. The decision to reserve Rosemont for this meeting means that a serious threat for the ,500 Chesapeake, a mile and a sixteenth test, Saturday, April 20, has to be considered. Rosemont showed a decided liking foFTEis track last year. With 117 pounds up and Johnny Gilbert riding, he sprinted three-quarters of a mile in the Eastern Shore in 1:11, record time, to defeat Nellie Flag, Go Quick and other fast horses. Others granted stall space today by superintendent Ross were H. Guy Bedwell of Savage, Md., who trains the horses of A. C. Compton of California; Admiral Cary T. Grayson of Washington; Mrs. Robert H. Heighe of Belair, Md., and W. W. Vaughan of Red Bank, N. J. Bedwell, the only Marylander ever to top Americas list of winning trainers, performing the feat no less than seven times, which constitutes a record, is bringing twenty-six horses from California. Mad Frump, one that Bedwell claimed from C. V. Whitney last fall, is being pointed for the ,500 Philadelphia Handicap on the closing day of spring racing at this picturesque course. The Vaughan horses are being shipped in from winter quarters at Red Bank, N. J., while Mrs. Heighes horses will be vanned over from her spacious farm, which is only a few miles from this track. Admiral Graysons string spent the winter at historic old Bennings, near Washington. Quality as well as quantity will be available this spring, therefore racing secretary Charles McLennan can be counted upon to offer high class sport throughout the twelve-day session.
