! JONES, SNIDER AND I HARVEY SUSPENDED i !, MIAMI, Fla., March 30. The failure of J. M. Jones, owner of Chartres, to produce Martin "Red" Harvey this afternoon, as he had promised, brought suspension for that horseman and jockey A. Snider by the stewards. The two horses which race under the colors of Jones, Chartres and St Stephens also were banned. Harvey is charged with being the man who picked up the battery which an inspector of the state racing commission asserts was dropped by Snider after the finish of Thursdays feature. Pinkertons have not been able to locate him since the battle for the battery, where the inspector was beaten, after being hit on the back by "Mr. Edison," the shock causing him to loosen his hold on the man he was attempting to apprehend. The latter escaped in a waiting automobile. The official rulings follow: "The licenses of jockey A. Snider and trainer J. M. Jones have been suspended, and both are denied the privileges of the course. The cases of both are referred to the Florida State Racing Commission. All horses trained by the said Jones have been likewise suspended. Martin Harvey has been warned off the course, and his case referred to the Florida State Racing Commission. The rulings in all cases were made for offenses detrimental to the best interests of the turf."
