! HEADLEY BAND TO BELMONT Seventeen in Kentuckians String Shipped in Care of Nephew Jockey Haines to Ride. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 8. Hal Price Headley shipped from his Beaumont Farm to Belmont Park Saturday seventeen horses to be trained by his nephew, Duval Headley, who accompanied them. Jockey Glenn Haines, a Baltimore boy who rode well at Miami this winter, accompanied the stable and will be the principal rider. The older horses in the shipment are Technique, Preeminent and Baby Sis; the three-year-olds are Ancient King, Beeline, Apprehend Cachamot and the unnamed bay colt by Pharamond II. Romance; the two-year-olds are Zowie, Sparta, High Cloud, Sandy Beach, which raced in Florida, and the following which have never before been -off the farm: On Approval, b. c, by Supremus Lakeme, by Troutbeck; Hollywood, b. c, by High Cloud Mandy Hamilton, by John o Gaunt; Night Alarm, blk. g, by Apprehension Soiree, by Tryster; unnamed bay filly by Supremus Ancient Queen, by Archaic; unnamed bay filly by Pharamond II Gurgling Water, by Rapid Water. The unnamed bay colt by Pharamond II. Romance by Luke McLuke, is one of the largest three-year-olds in training in Kentucky and possibly in the entire country. He is a tremendous horse very powerful. He was entered in the Kentucky Derby, but it is very doubtful if he will be ready. Mr. Headley said that he had sent on several names for him, but up to now none have been available. With Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitney expected late today or tomorrow for an inspection of their racing stable, plans were being made today for the shipment of the horses from the farm to the race tracks. Within the next two or three days the entire group of horses in training will be shipped away from the farm, where they were wintered. One carload will go to Belmont Park, another to Havre de Grace. Young Jack Healey, who will handle one division of the stable, left today for New York, where he will await the arrival of the string which will be shipped to Belmont Park. Head trainer Thomas J. Healey will go to Havre de Grace with that part of that stable which is expected to get into action immediately. The two Kentucky Derby candidates today were given a workout over the private track at the Whitney farm. It was raining and the track was very muddy, but the two colts went six furlongs in 1:19, the fastest they , have been allowed to go this spring. j
