DISTRACT leaped into the air at the .start, settled into his stride quickly to engage the leaders when reaching the home stretch, was forced wide, but closed with excellent courage under nice handling and was up in the last sixteenth. GALLA raced on the outside of the leaders from the beginning, was carried wide into the home stretch after meeting with interference, gained a slight lead, but could not withstand the winner. CLARKSDALE was in the thick of contention from the start and held on gamely in the closing drive. FREE SPIRIT raced evenly. STARBOROUGH raced strongly in the early running. ROCK IRIS broke well, but dropped back immediately. BE JUST displayed early speed. LOCH LONDON had keen speed for three-eighths, then quit badly. HOWS CHANCES, placed close up in the early stages, reached the leaders with a rush midway of the turn, came through on the inside to take command when the leaders swung wide, and drew away into a commanding lead. GLYNDON BELLE followed in nearest attendance of ZAY, was carried wide into the home stretch, but held on with good courage. CHIEF MOURNER worked his way up on the inside when placed to severe punishment, but could not threaten the leaders. ZAY had nice speed for a half mile, then quit. CURRANTS was never a factor. The latter improved her position gradually on the outside, then closed gamely for the final drive. IMPROMPTU was used up racing with PROTEUS and quit badly when the real test came. AXENTEA was badly messed around from the beginning and closed on his own couraee during the stretch drive. ARMY GAME was unable to reach a contending position. FLY ON was held safe." BEYOND DOUBT sprinted clear after , reaching the back stretch, was shaken up when challenged, but failed to rally. POST BRIGADE, could not make up any ground during the closing drive. STAR PORTER showed good speed to race BROWN TWIG into submission, saved ground, but could not resist the winner. STAND PAT moved up strongly on the inside when approaching the home stretch, but could not threaten during the final drive. BROWN TWIG raced strongly for a half mile, then tired. WALKALONG was used up racing with CHEROKEE SAL and tired steadily during the closing stages. CHEROKEE SAL tired after going seven-eighths.
