VALERIE JEAN, away slowly but greatly benefited by her riders rough tactics, carried the field wide at the far turn, drew away before reaching the final quarter and came over on MARCHLINE in the stretch and withstood the latter. MARCHLINE, a strong factor from the start but forced to ease when the winner came over in the stretch, was sent to the outside for racing room and held on well. CANIA, shuffled back at the far turn, came through the field for the drive, but was forced to the outside in the last stages., MINNIE GREENOCK, away slowest of all and used up in reaching contention, tired in the last eighth. OUR PATTY raced wide. JOHNNY BANE, fractious at the start but away fast, bore out badly and quit under pressure. LOVELY MARY stumbled nearing the final quarter and trailed thereafter. WHIZZ JAMES, forced wide while forcing the pace, disposed of THE HEATHEN entering the stretch, but failed to withstand the winner. RAPID PRINCE improved his position steadily and closed with a rush. THE HEATHEN, used up setting the pace, tired in the drive. PRETTY PEG made up ground. GYPSIE CHIEF tired. GEORGE was outrun. ANA X. was also outrun. JUSTICE LOGAN quit. FROST BITE sprinted into a good lead in the opening three-eighths, but tired under pressure. HEAVY SUGAR, a strong factor from the start, held on well. DORNOCH raced evenly. LUGEN LUGGAGE began slowly and, forced to go to the outside for racing room, finished strongly. PLAYFUL MARTHA made up ground. HAGGERSON quit. SILK FLAG showed little. HIGH MONGUL began in a tangle and, forced to the outside for racing room, closed with a rush and came back lame. JAKOVIA, outrun to the stretch and lucky to get through the field for the drive, finished strongly. LEFT OVER worked his way forward steadily, came through on the inside in the stretch, but was blocked by ATTRACTION nearing the last eighth. EBLIS, used up in reaching the lead, tired in the last eighth. TRACKER was outrun. DIAVOLESS quit. ATTRACTION quit badly in the stretch and blocked LEFT OVER when tiring. RED ROD quit.
