WAXWING took command quickly, saved ground after the first quarter and, only mildly shaken up in the stretch, appeared to have something in reserve. OUR PATTY, under strong riding throughout, was forced to race wide in the last five-sixteenths and held on with fine courage. RALPH C, away slowly, raced to the inside on the turn and saved ground thereafter in a good performance. RED FLYER tired in the last three-sixteenths. SEA EAGLE began to improve his position after reaching the stretch turn, cams around the leaders approaching the final eighth and bore to the inside while coming away thereafter. FAIR TIME had speed from the start, came away fast on the stretch turn, but could not withstand the winner, yet held on- fairly well. FRENCH KNIGHT, a strong factor throughout, also held on well. CREOLE BIRD showed a good effort. HOMER L. came to the outside in the stretch and finished strongly. WISE EDDIE, away slowly, was far back all the way. SECRET TRYST was through after three-eighths. MABEL KRASA was outrun. VACILLATE, much the best, took command with a rush after reaching the turn, was under strong restraint in the final eighth and had much in reserve. DORIS B. appeared to suffer slightly as the winner came over before drawing clear, but recovered quickly, stood a long drive gamely and always held the others safe. DARK HAZARD saved ground after the first quarter and held on well. HIGH POCKETS had no mishaps. ULUNIU was far out of it after three-eighths. L. B. WILSON was through early. KINGSBURY, racing in his best form and away fast, dropped out of it before going an eighth, came to the outside when beginning to move up soon after reaching the stretch and, closing with a rush, disposed of the leaders for an easy win. SPARTA, taken back slightly as KENTUCKY BLUES came over in the first quarter, was strongly urged in the final quarter and wore down KENTUCKY BLUES in the closing strides. The latter came across sharply when taking command in the first quarter, had good speed, but tired badly in the last eighth. DOUBLE KERRY, eased when in close quarters early, might have been more of a factor under stronger handling. MISS ETERNAL could not improve her. position. DUST GIRL, suited by the going and racing, in her best form, was under snug restraint for five-eighths, responded with determination when called upon, was forced very wide while racing around CHIEF CHEROKEE and appeared ready to draw out. CHIEF CHEROKEE had good speed from the start, swerved out badly in the stretch and gave way badly in the. closing strides. SILENJ SHOT, badly outrun early, began to make up ground after reaching the last five-sixteenths, came to the extreme outside in the stretch and weakened after nearing the lead. The latter, under strong pressure after five-eighths, closed boldly. GLODAZZ forced the early pace under stout restraint, came with renewed effort nearing the final eighth, then tired. FUNDERBURG tired badly after making a bid in the stretch. BROTHER LOU began sluggishly and, lacking his usual belated speed, was never a factor. BLACK RIVER quit badly. ALL DEVIL showed nothing.
