TO CANOE FROM U. S. TO NOME NEW YORK, N. Y., April 27.-Sheldon Taylor and Geoffrey Pope, youthful bookkeepers, began an adventure Saturday which as yet has not" been accomplished by either white man or Indian that is, a ranoe trip from New York to Nome, Alaska, a distance of 6,000 miles. They embarked in a seventeen foot canoe and will paddle the entire distance, except for a short distance of fourteen miles, when they will be forced to carry 250 pounds of equipment overland.
