. ABERDEEN STAKES RENEWAL Twenty-Fourth Running of Fixture, Havre de Grace Finale. Goldey F. Favorite for Coveted Juvenile Prize Vanderbilt Relying on Irrepressible and Gay Balko. 4 HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 27. The Aberdeen Stakes, four and a half furlong3 dash for juveniles, heads the closing day program offered by the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association at Havre de Grace as the fourteen-day spring meeting draws to a close. The coveted feature carries a purse of ,500 added and is being renewed for the twenty-fourth time. Much of the interest in the running has been lost due to the absence of Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts unbeaten Air-flame. It was thought that a meeting between the holder of the world mark for three furlongs and Mrs. W. A. Bridges Goldey F., unbeaten in her six starts, would create the aspect of a championship engagement, but Vanderbilt decided not to start the son of Ariel and Flamante, resting his hopes on his two other eligibles, Irrepressible and Gay Balko. Pre-race favoritism is certain to rest with Goldey F., for despite the brilliant record of Airflame, she was certain to have received stout support had the pair met. Horsemen who have seen the daughter of Tall Timber and Naharanna perform in her six successes, were impressed by the gameness that the filly displayed. Goldey F. was not nominated for the fillies division of the Nursery Stakes at Hialeah Park, but her most impressive victory was her score in the Juvenile Championship at that course. Since then, Goldey F. has shown that she is not a "horse for course" filly by chalking up a victory over the Havre de Grace track. Prominent among the rivals to the favored filly is Tall Oak, a winner at Bowie and second to Goldey F. at Havre de Grace. The John Hay Whitney colorbearer could be a distinct threat should the choice falter, for Goldey F. "beat him but one length and was under pressure to do so. Manatella, an easy winner on the opening day at Havre de Grace, will carry the hopes of the Foxcatcher Farms. War Admiral will carry the silks of the Glen Riddle Farm. This son of Man o War was a winner over this track last Saturday. The Shandon Farm of the Nash Brothers of Chicago will pin its hopes on Sun Mica and Happy Road. The former is a brown colt, by Sun Flag and Mica, and will face . the barrier for the first time in the Aberdeen. Happy Road won two races during his campaign in Florida, but it is doubtful if this colt will start, as he is not believed to be at his best at present. E. K. Bryson has named Whiscenda, a winner at New Orleans and later at Bowie. A. G. Vanderbilt will be represented by Irrepressible and Gay Balko. The first named filly accounted for the Kindergarten Stakes at Bowie, accomplishing her score by four lengths over a muddy track. In her trial over Havre de Grace track she was accompanied by Air-flame, which whirled the half-mile of the test in :47, but the filly was outdistanced and was driving at the end. Gay Balko chalked up an easy victory over the Havre de Grace course, but did not impress greatly in doing so. However,, ne can be expected Jt benefit by the effort. Mrs. R. A. Van Cliefs Broad Ripple, a winner over the Havre de Grace track, is certain to receive support because of the ease with which she accomplished her victory. Since that success the bay daughter of Stimulus and Hocus Pocus was worked a half in :48, accomplishing the trial handily. Except that Goldey F. appears to be an outstanding choice, the field in the Aberdeen appears to be evenly matched. While the meeting draws to a close on Tuesday, which is generally considered an off day, there should be a sizeable attendance on hand to continue the excellent record in patronage and mutuel handle that the fourteen-day meeting has enjoyed.
