j FOSTER PRAISES NEWLY i CUSHIONED AURORA OVAL j - . . .4 AURORA, 111., April 27. Secretary George Foster of the Illinois racing commission was among the thousands who visited the Fox Valley Jockey Club Sunday, which was official inspection day at the Aurora plant. He complimented general manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., on the new mutuel plant, saying it would undoubtedly prove an attraction to race patrons in the event of inclement weather. The added space, as a result of moving the mutuel plant to the extreme south end of the hall, makes it possible to accommodate additional thousands in this enclosure. Foster also made an inspection trip around the newly resurfaced track proper. "As a result of the added dirt placed on the course since the close of the last meeting," said Foster, "I find that the top dressing is much softer than it has been in any year when I visited Aurora. I am sure that if this cushion is maintained during the meeting that we will have no complaint from horsemen about broken, down horses. Eddy informed me that it will be the policy of the management to keep the track in such condition, so if this is done I am sure we will have no more complaints about a hard track." Foster will be on hand at Aurora early Wednesday morning, also Thursday, to accept applications for trainer, jockey arid other licenses required by the Illinois commission.
