I JAMAICA TURF NOTES ft John Loftus arrived from California and will remain for some time. Milo Shields arrived from Tanforan with eight horses which he races for Miss Aileen Pendergast, He also brought the 100-pound apprentice boy, V. Neal. Jockey T. Saunders arrived from Tanforan and will accept mounts here. Trainer Bert Mulholland reported that G. D. Wideners High Fleet will be on the shelf for a brief period. The mare was injured in a collision Sunday morning at Belmont Park with one owned by Max Hirsch. Eddie Gorman, an exercise boy, suffered a broken leg at Belmont Park Monday when his mount, Mahdi, lunged and bolted through a fence. The boy was removed to Mary Immaculate Hospital for treatment. Horsemen were notified that the Australian gate would be used for overnight claiming races only. A draft of two-year-olds arrived at Belmont Park from Keeneland Park consigned to Jack Healey, trainer of the C. V. Whitney stable. After the running of the Polydor Handicap Walter Carter stated that Clodion would start in the Wood Memorial. He is dickering for the services of jockey L. Balaski to ride him. Maurice "Dancer" Hyams took up a collection for the parents of Richard James, who -was killed while galloping a horse over the Jamaica course Friday. A substantial sum was realized. J. B. Partridge reported that his Sunan-air was badly kicked at the Australian barrier in his last start and that the horse would be absent from racing for at least two weeks. Bert Fisher, horsemens bookkeeper here, reported that the number of claims filed to date is below that of last season. G. D. Widener has taken a call on the services of jockey Wayne Wright for the Belmont Park meeting. Apprentice W. Vassar, under contract to Hirsch Jacobs, was suspended and ordered to his home for disobedience and unruly conduct. Owners and trainers are requested not to harbor the boy. Marshall Field and R. L. Gerry were on hand to witness Charing Cross In his first effort of the year.
