I TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES f J- : 4 Jockey Charles Rollins who was thrown from Backintime in the last race Christmas day, suffered soreness from the Jail he received and was granted permission to cancel his mounts Tuesday. The lad is expected back in silks shortly. Condition books embracing the first period of racing at Oriental Park under the newly j formed Havana American Racing Association, were eagerly sought by horsemen here when they were released Tuesday. Several stables will divide their strings at the close of the local meeting and send part of their racers to the island oval in quest of purses. Jockey Maurice Peters suffered a fall while exercising horses at Hialeah Park Tuesday morning and cancelled his mounts after having two stitches put in his tongue. Peters will be absent from the saddle for several days due to the injury. Four carloads of horses are destined to be transferred to Havana, Cuba for racing at Oriental Park. The shipment is being arranged at Tropical Park and will leave in the next few hours. Joe Foley, publicity director for the Hollywood Jockey Club, was an interested specta-. tor. Jockey C. Friedman, under contract to D. J. Sullivan, rode his first winner when he scored with Takus here on December 22. The youngster is being groomed in his profession by trainer Sam Hicks who conditions the D. J. Sullivan horses and who was a former rider. Jockey J. Glaug, who finished second on Hazel Nut in the first race Monday, is under contract to Bomar Stable and is regarded to be a promising riding prospect. The board of examiners, passing upon licenses, will meet in session at Tropical Park Thursday morning. Jockey Earl Steffen was suspended for the balance of the meeting for rough riding on Lassator in the fourth race Tuesday. Las-sator, after being returned winner, was disqualified and the purse awarded to Hi Cliff. Prince Splendor, winner of the eighth race Tuesday for Mrs. M. C. Breen, pulled up lame in the- running of the number and was dis- mounted by jockey E. Arcaro after the finish. i
